Disadvantage 1: Relatively single color tone, unable to realize multi-color patterns and complex printed graphics
Solution: Adopt composite matching process. Take electroplating as the base metallic finish layer, and use pad printing, UV printing or water decal for local multi-color logos, text and decorative patterns. It retains luxury metal texture while realizing personalized colorful detailing.
Disadvantage 2: Higher processing cost than conventional spraying and printing processes
Solution: For large-batch orders, optimize fixture layout to increase single-frame placement quantity and reduce unit processing cost. For cost-sensitive mass products, recommend metallic spray painting as an economical alternative, while retain electroplating only for key decorative key parts.
Disadvantage 3: Strict substrate restrictions, only stable for ABS materials, most toy materials cannot be electroplated
Solution: In the early product design stage, reasonably replace key decorative parts with ABS material to meet electroplating requirements. For finished non-ABS products such as vinyl and wood toys, switch to high-simulation metallic paint finishing to achieve similar metal appearance.
Disadvantage 4: The plating layer may crack or expose the base material under strong external impact or severe extrusion
Solution 1: Add enhanced sealing protection and thickened top protective layer after electroplating to improve toughness and impact resistance.
Solution 2: Optimize product structure to avoid sharp corners and stress concentration areas that are easy to crack.
Solution 3: For products requiring high drop resistance, adjust to flexible metallic coating process to improve surface toughness.
