What Is Anime Figurine?

Anime figurines sometimes also refer to unpainted resin model kits, a type of collectible model and Japanese anime merchandise; the original English term is Garage Kits (GK), meaning model kits. These require players to undertake a series of complex processes like sanding, assembling, and painting, with a difficulty level far exceeding that of general model making, and the primary material is resin. Due to later misunderstandings, the term 'anime figurine' also came to encompass all resin figure works, including finished products, though its original meaning specifically referred to unpainted kits.

It is also used as a general term for all collectible character models. For non-enthusiasts, anime figurines hold little meaning, and they may find it baffling that a 'piece of plastic' can sell for hundreds or thousands. For enthusiasts, however, an anime figurine can be an expression of their desire to collect, a source of spiritual sustenance, or a way to show their love for a specific anime character.
