The Inspiration from Neighbors' Pets
Our design team consists of die-hard pet owners, with cats and dogs at home. Watching their daily routines of eating, sleeping, and causing mischief, we suddenly thought: "Why are all the animal toys on the market so stiff?" We decided to create a series of hyper-realistic 3D mini animal models that capture those delightfully silly and adorable moments of our furry friends—like my cat arching its back and puffing up its fur while chasing a laser pointer, or the neighbor's corgi wiggling its butt with its bottom stuck in the air. To authentically replicate the expressions of pets, we took our 3D scanner to neighborhood pet gatherings, conducting free "full-body scans" of over 20 cats and dogs. The most hilarious part was capturing dynamic movements—we camped in the park for three days and finally snapped a shot of a golden retriever with its tongue sticking out sideways while carrying a frisbee. We tested over a dozen resin types before settling on a special variant with a velvety, fur-like texture that feels uncannily like real animal fur.
