Injection tooling amortizes across the run and multi-cavity molds hold the Pantone-locked black-and-orange palette consistent across batches at MOQ 100. Rigid PVC also survives the real killer of holiday figures — being packed, shipped, stacked, and unboxed in the 60 days before the season — while taking matte black paint and gloss glazes cleanly over sharp horn ridges and fur texture. Rotocast vinyl is the right call for soft cute styling, and resin wins on museum-grade finish for numbered editions of roughly 300 pieces or fewer, but for seasonal volume on a calendar, injection is the structural answer.

Hand work concentrates where it sells. The glow effect on the eyes is a three-step hand process — saturated orange underlayer, darkened edge ring, gloss-dome clear coat — with no electronics. The pumpkin bucket gets hand-painted carving edges, interior glow, and individual candy highlights. Horns get ring-texture washes that pool in the sculpted ridges, and the fur field gets dry-brushed highlights that follow the sculpt's fur direction. The matte black body itself is a controlled three-layer build (base, mid, top) because single-pass black reads gray under store lighting. A zone map records which zone is matte, which is gloss, so batch 300 looks like batch 100. Two documents. First, the palette is locked to Pantone chips in your approval sample — not screen colors, which shift with every display. Second, black itself is locked as a three-layer paint formula with a written recipe (base, mid, top coats), because black is the color most often ruined by single-pass spraying. The glow-orange channel gets an additional accelerated light-fastness test with a Delta E report, since orange is the first channel to fade in a sunny entryway and a season-one figure going gray-orange by season two is a refund waiting to happen. Both the palette record and the matte/gloss zone map are archived with your SKU for the life of the product.

Four rules cover most of it. Keep it out of direct sun — the orange channel fades first under UV, so a south-facing table is the worst spot in the house. Dust matte black with a soft brush, never a cloth — cloth polishes swirl marks into matte surfaces that only show in raking light. Use a separate microfiber for the gloss eye and pumpkin zones. For post-season storage: white acid-free tissue, the original foam box, a desiccant pack, flat and off the floor — and no PVC sleeves or plastic wrap, which can migrate plasticizer into the matte top coat and leave a ghost rectangle.
