When the Piggy Decided to "Wear" Cow Clothes
One afternoon, two team members got into a heated debate over farm-themed cartoon sketches—"Pigs are clearly rounder and cuter!" "But cows have those stylish stripes and hats, so pastoral!" Just as the argument escalated, someone slammed the table and exclaimed, "Why not let the pig wear cow clothes? Like it secretly crashed the farm’s costume party!" And thus, the crazy plan for the "piggy cosplaying as a cow" was born—we decided to create a 10cm mini toy featuring a round-faced piggy wearing soft, fluffy cow horns and a spotted skirt, paired with a mini milk carton prop. Adorably over-the-top!
The initial design phase was a series of "fails": the piggy’s face was drawn too fierce, resembling a chubby brat from a landlord’s house, while the cow horns were so sharp they poked the test subject into swatting them away. The biggest challenge? The material choice—we initially used ordinary plush fabric for the body, but it felt like "a scratchy old sweater." We urgently switched to baby-grade ultra-soft plush, even adding soft silicone to the piggy’s nose to prevent slipping. The packaging was just as troublesome: the original plain paper box was dismissed by our designer as "looking like a vegetable market plastic bag." It was eventually upgraded to a matte-finish box, with a Q-version illustration of the piggy holding the milk carton printed on the inside of the lid and "Farm Owner Certified" fun stickers hidden inside.
The moment the final product was ready, the office was instantly conquered—the intern hugged it and shouted, "It’s better to pet than a real pig, and it doesn’t stink!" Our stuffed cat didn’t even try to chew the hat, and even the most critical design director secretly placed it beside their keyboard as an "inspiration milk bottle." Now, it’s not only the "photo-taking star" at exhibitions but also the "most wanted to be stolen desktop companion" in fans’ unboxing posts. Meanwhile, our designers’ sketchbooks are already filled with sequels—like "piggy in sheep clothes" and "piggy with rabbit ears"—waiting to be brought to life.
