Mass Base Color

Process Introduction

Mass Base Color, commonly known as pellet integral coloring or raw material color injection, is the most cost-effective integrated molding coloring process for mass solid-color ABS, PVC vinyl and plush toy batch production. Unlike traditional post-molding spray coloring, this process mixes high-stability color masterbatch pigments evenly into plastic pellets, fabric and other raw materials in advance. The colored raw materials are then directly molded and shaped through injection molding or integrated weaving. The finished toy products come with uniform, integrated base color in one step, completely eliminating secondary spray painting, printing and post-coloring procedures. The process simplifies the production flow greatly, improves overall production efficiency, and delivers zero paint-peeling structural stability. It supports a super-high daily output of 800–1200 pieces per production line, making it the optimal standardized solution for large-volume solid-color toy orders.
Mass Base Color

Core Types of Mass Base Color

1. Plastic Pellet Color Mixing: Integral coloring for ABS, PVC and vinyl injection-molded toy blanks, achieving full-body consistent solid color;
2. Fabric Integral Dyeing: Raw material dyeing for plush toy cloth and flexible fabric accessories to ensure uniform internal and external color tone;
3. Standard Batch Fixed Color: Mature color matching system for mass repeated orders, realizing long-term batch color consistency.

Core Advantages

1. Zero paint peeling & blistering risk: The color pigment penetrates the entire raw material structure instead of staying on the surface, fundamentally solving common defects such as paint peeling, layer cracking and blistering of sprayed products.
2. Extreme color fastness: Integral raw material coloring features outstanding anti-fading, anti-washing and anti-rubbing performance, with far higher durability than surface coating processes.
3. Simplified production workflow: Eliminating post-spraying, drying and surface finishing procedures, cutting manual coloring labor costs by up to 60% compared with traditional spray painting.
4. Ultra-high yield & mass efficiency: No surface coloring defects such as sagging, color difference and missing coating, with a batch yield rate of over 98%, supporting stable super-large-volume output.
5. Lowest comprehensive manufacturing cost: Suitable for long-term repeated bulk orders, greatly reducing post-processing loss and rework costs.

Disadvantages + Solving Methods

Disadvantage 1: Molded color cannot be modified or adjusted, unable to change color in the later stage
Solution 1: Confirm color swatches and conduct small-batch trial molding 100% before mass production to lock color parameters and avoid batch errors.
Solution 2: For customers who require later color adjustment or personalized color modification, we reserve local spray painting and UV printing processes for secondary color decoration on the base color blank.
Disadvantage 2: Original molded surface finish is relatively dull, lacking the glossy and layered texture of spray-painted products
Solution: Add post-process surface finishing according to design requirements, including high-gloss polishing, matte fine grinding, transparent top-coat varnish and pearlescent coating upgrades to enrich surface layering and gloss effect.
Disadvantage 3: Slight batch color deviation may exist in long-cycle mass production due to raw material batch differences
Solution 1: Adopt fixed-brand unified color masterbatch and raw material supply to stabilize color foundation.
Solution 2: Establish unified color swatch standards, perform color comparison for each new material batch, and fine-tune pigment proportion parameters to control batch color difference within an invisible range.
Disadvantage 4: Pure molded surface has no protective paint layer, easily producing scratch marks under external impact and friction
Solution: Match matte anti-scratch protective coating or surface oil finishing treatment after molding to enhance surface friction resistance and cover slight scratch defects.

Application Scenarios

1. Large-batch standardized solid-color injection molded toys and integrated vinyl figure blanks;
2. Mass production of plush toys and fabric accessories with single fixed color requirements;
3. Bulk toy orders without complex gradient patterns and multi-color decorative effects;
4. Basic blank base color production for subsequent secondary printing, hand-painting and partial decoration;
5. Cost-sensitive large-volume public welfare toys, daily-play toys and standardized assembly-line products.

Compatible Materials

Fully compatible substrates: ABS, PVC, vinyl, plush fabric. These materials support raw material pellet color mixing and integral dyeing molding with stable color uniformity and mature mass production technology.
Incompatible materials: Resin and solid wood. Resin curing molding and wood raw materials cannot be pre-mixed with color masterbatch for integral coloring, so mass base color process is not applicable.

FAQ

1
What is the biggest advantage of mass base color compared with post-spray coloring?
Mass base color mixes color masterbatch into plastic pellets or fabric raw materials before molding, so the whole toy is colored from inside to outside. There is no surface paint layer at all, fundamentally eliminating common defects such as paint peeling, blistering, cracking and rubbing off that easily occur with spray painting. It also cuts down post-spray labor and drying procedures, greatly boosting mass production efficiency.
2
Which toy raw materials support mass base color integral coloring?
It stably fits ABS, PVC, vinyl plastic pellets and plush woven fabric. Resin and solid wood cannot adopt this process, as they cannot be evenly blended with color pigment in the early molding stage. Hard plastic injection toys and single-color plush toys are our mainstream applicable products.
3
Can I change or adjust the toy color after mass base color molding?
No. The pigment is fused into the whole raw material structure during injection or weaving. Once molded, the base color cannot be modified. We will confirm color swatches and conduct small trial molding 100% before mass production to lock the color formula. If personalized color changes are needed later, we will reserve partial spray painting, UV printing or hand painting for secondary decoration.
4
Does mass base color have limitations on surface texture and pattern effects?
The original molded surface of mass base color is plain matte without gloss, pearlescent or metallic texture. It can only realize single solid color without gradients, multi-color graphics and fine printed details. If you need richer surface layers, we add post-process polishing, clear topcoat, pearlescent coating or composite printing crafts after molding.
5
Is mass base color more cost-effective for long-term repeated bulk orders?
Yes. It omits all post-coloring working procedures and reduces rework loss caused by surface coloring defects, with a batch yield rate over 98%. For large-volume, long-term repeat orders of fixed single-color toys, its comprehensive manufacturing cost is far lower than spray painting and other post-printing processes. It is not recommended for small-batch trial orders with frequent color adjustments.
