Product Description
As a professional Sofubi Toy Manufacturer, we provide custom designer vinyl art toy factory service for collectible sofubi figures, soft vinyl characters and limited edition productions. Our service covers the entire process from original character design, prototyping, mold making, soft vinyl casting, hand painting, quality control to packaging.
The sample figure shows a fierce monster character with gradient green, yellow and red colors, spiky body parts, big black eyes and exaggerated teeth. This kind of sofubi figure is suitable for urban art toys, designer collectibles, limited edition releases and brand IP collaborations.
We support various sofubi manufacturing methods, including rotocast soft vinyl, solid vinyl casting, hand painted finishing, color testing, small batch production and mass production. Suitable for independent designers, art toy brands, IP owners and promotional projects.
Note:
The toy figure images shown on our website are intended solely as references for customization and are not available for purchase. As a professional ODM/OEM toy manufacturer, we focus on customizing and producing toy figures of comparable style. If you have an original figure design you’d like to produce, please reach out to us for a quotation.
sofubi is the Japanese soft vinyl tradition: figures cast in deliberately flexible plastisol, usually hollow, named for the squish. A sofubi toy manufacturer does not make "vinyl figures that happen to be soft" — the softness is the product. It decides how the figure feels in hand, how paint behaves on it, how seams hold, and how it survives being handled the way sofubi buyers handle things.
What we control in-house: plastisol formulation and durometer targeting, aluminum mold making, rotocast and solid casting, vent and seam engineering, hand spray finishing, pad printing, and the compliance file that lets the figure ship to EU and US retail.
| Material | Feel / durometer (Shore C) | Strengths | Costs and cautions |
|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ Extra-soft sofubi grade | 0-10, deep squish | The authentic sofubi hand feel; dramatic squeeze and slow recovery | Walls must run thicker or the figure collapses; paint needs flexible systems; slowest to demold |
| Standard soft grade | 10-20, classic squish | Best balance of squish, detail retention and seam strength; the default for 7-10 in hollow figures | Detail edges soften slightly compared to firm grades |
| Medium-firm grade | 20-32, resilient push | Holds spikes, horns and fine sculpt detail; safer for thin projections | Loses the signature give; buyers may read it as "not really sofubi" |
| Clear / translucent vinyl | per grade above | Glow inserts, internal "organs", window effects | Yellows faster under UV; visible weld lines need vent tuning; color matching is by trial |
| Glitter / pearlescent compound | per grade above | Drop-day shelf presence; classic kaiju finish | Glitter settles during casting — rotation profile must be tuned; every pull varies slightly |
| ABS (hard parts only) | rigid | Swap hands, weapons, bases, jointed heads | Separate tooling and injection process; adds 12-18 days when mixed into a vinyl program |
| Stage / decision | What it decides | Where it goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Sculpt review for a soft medium | Which details can survive being squeezed thousands of times | Needles, teeth and thin spikes sculpted sharp will flex, whiten, or crack their paint — these get re-thought before mold cutting, not after pull 50 |
| Durometer target locked pre-mold | Wall thickness, demold behavior, paint system, QC method | Changing softness after tooling means a reformulated plastisol, new pull tests, and re-approved paint — effectively a second program |
| Mold route: aluminum rotocast | Hollow walls, controlled weight, 100+ piece economics | Cheap single-cavity shortcuts trap air at horns and ears — the pinholes only show after painting |
| Vent and fill engineering | Complete fill of extremities; no trapped air pockets | Undervented tips read as "empty" when squeezed and can delaminate from the inner wall |
| Demold and cool-down | Shape retention and surface finish straight from the mold | Hot demold warms figures out of true; over-eager release agents dull the surface before paint ever lands |
| Trim and seam finishing | Whether the figure reads hand-finished or factory-flash | Soft vinyl deforms under aggressive trimming — blade angle and support are learned per grade |
| Flexible paint + cure schedule | Paint that survives the squish instead of crackling at the joints | Rigid paint systems on a 0-10 Shore C body crack within days; flex additives trade some color density |
| QC: squeeze and recovery test | The figure survives its own buyers | Standard drop tests alone miss sofubi reality: 200 squeeze cycles plus recovery-time measurement catch collapse and creasing that drops never will |
Designer drops and LE runs. One mold, one durometer grade, single paint pass. The standard sofubi program.
Retail-ready lines. Batch-level color consistency controls, AQL sampling on seams and finish.
Multi-colorway programs from one mold; parallel paint lines; planned re-pulls.
IP collaboration volumes. Dedicated cavities per colorway; formula batch reservation for cross-run consistency.
